Want to see if there’s a study room available?

Some of the information in this post may be out of date. For information on the new study room reservation system, click here. Please speak to a librarian for more up to date information.

Did you know there’s a way to check if there are study rooms available before you even come up to the Circulation Desk?

(Besides just walking upstairs and seeing if they’re empty, I mean.)

Just look them up in the HELIN catalog!  Since we check them out to your accounts, we have them listed in the catalog just like course material, so you look them up to see which rooms are available (or, if they’re all checked out, which are closest to reaching the 3 hour time limit).

Go to the “Course Reserves” section on the righthand side of the HELIN catalog, click on the “Instructor” link, and on the next page, type “study rooms” into the blank where you’d normally put your professor’s name.  Then you’ll get the list of all the study rooms, complete with their current status.

Of course, you can always skip all those steps and go straight to the list right here, too.

Hope this makes securing study space a little easier.  And as always, we want to hear your feedback.  Let us know how you think things are going!

Some schools allow you to reserve rooms over the internet too. It might be something worth looking into…

    Love the new system though!

    Hi Brian –

Thanks for your comments. We are happy to hear that you are liking the new system; it is a work in progress and we are always open to ideas to help tweak it. And… we are currently exploring options and looking into web-based software which will allow for room reservations… stay tuned!
