Access Services Librarian Pat Crawford has had two different mentions in local media in the last week or so. First, her position as Vice-Chair / Chair-Elect of the Innovative Users Group Steering Committee gets a shout-out from The Rhodarian, the blog of the Rhode Island Office of Library and Information Services (OLIS).
Then she gets interviewed by the local reporter Mario Hilario (yes, that’s his real name) as part of a story on the sport of curling (she belongs to the Ocean State Curling Club, you see).
Congratulations on both counts to Pat, and a reminder to everyone else that we’re pretty much everywhere.
We will be open from noon to 1:30 a.m. on Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 15th.
Attention, please! Krupp Library is closing @ 10 pm tonight due to the weather and evening class cancellations.
Each year libraries in the HELIN Consortium trial databases requested by librarians within the member libraries. This year there are several very valuable business databases available for student and faculty use through the trial period (ending at the end of February). To view the databases, go to the library website and click on the HELIN TRIAL DATABASES link. The following databases might provide critical data and/or information for finishing a paper or project this semester:
- Euromonitor Global Market Information (GMID)
Euromonitor is a leading supplier of global consumer and service market data and reports. Select a consumer market (e.g., appliances) and a country (e.g., France), and run your search to find data (e.g., consumption, market growth or decline) and research reports (e.g., dishwashers in the Czech Republic). Research reports contain headlines, trends, competitive landscape, prospects, and sector data for the selected country. Users can also select a particular country and locate data such as disposable income, savings, and gross income. Data is displayed over a span of 5 years with a percentage growth or decline. The GMID is a “must see” for any student working on an international marketing project.
Web-based market intelligence with detailed market research reports of products within specific industries. These reports include industry interviews, competitive analysis, market trends, buyer behavior, and more. Users can select current and historical reports by topic, category, keyword, and/or date.
- Plunkett Research Online
A combination of industry research center and career source, Plunkett Research provides in-depth industry reports and informative company profiles. Browse or search 31 industries to view industry reports containing market research and trends, statistics, competitors, and trade association contacts. "Country Wedding" by André Normil
Several pieces of the Haitian Art Collection donated to the school in 1998 by alumna Gladys Kinoian Lujan (Class of 1956) are on display in one of the glass cases in the Bello Center lobby (opposite the Chinese Terracotta Warrior display). Obviously Haiti is on everyone’s mind lately, and these works are a unique window into the creative and constructive aspects of Haitian life.
Other Haitian paintings are on display in the hallway near Faculty Suites F & J in the Unistructure. And you can learn about the collection as a whole here.
