Search the Library’s Virtual Reference Collections

Standard

Start your research in your dorm room or at home using the Gale Virtual Reference Collection, a collection of e-reference handbooks, encyclopedias, and general reference works available under the Articles & Databases link on the library website.  Click on this link to retrieve a listing of subject areas in which the library has collected reference works.  If you’re searching for business content, expand the business category by clicking the + sign next to the Business entry.  A few of the more important multi-volume business publications in the collection include the Business Plans Handbook, a collection of business plans produced by real-life entrepreneurs; the Encyclopedia of American Industries, overviews and trends on American industries; the Encyclopedia of Emerging Industries, an overview of industries with growth potential; and the International Directory of Company Histories, detailed and updated histories of leading corporations.

If you’re searching for definitions or short explanations of terms, try Credo Reference, a collection of 300 reference titles.  The collection includes dictionaries, encyclopedias, thesauri, and books of quotations and covers a range of subjects from art to technology.  Examples of business books contained in this collection include the Dictionary of Accounting, the Wiley Dictionary of Economics, the Dictionary of Finance & Investment Terms, an Encyclopedia of Macroeconomics, a Guide to Economic Indicators, and Wall Street Words.  The database search capabilities provide for image searching and concept mapping as well as keyword searching of the entire collection or selected titles.

If you need help finding or searching a virtual reference title, contact a reference librarian and they’ll be glad to assist.
