Navigating the Entrepreneurship Database

Some of the information in this post may be out of date. Please speak to a librarian for more up to date information.

The Entrepreneurship Database, a Proquest product, is useful for locating some unique content and formats not available in other library databases.  For example, in the database you can search through 11,000 video clips in which entrepreneurs give accounts of their business expertise.  If you want to locate a video that might be related to the type of business plan you are trying to develop, try searching the collection by subject.  You can also find start-up plans, templates and forms which can help guide you through the start-up process and provide a “checklist” of items to assist you in obtaining sources for financing your business.  The data & reports section holds market research documents that include market and company reports, key financial ratios, demographicsbenchmarks, and more.  Lastly, business cases, working papers, and conference proceedings are also available for retrieval.

Search for specific content by title.  Some content of interest includes the Freedonia Focus industry reports, 20 page reports with market information on particular industries; the Babson Entrepreneurship Case Studies, case studies that can be used for learning experiences using real life companies; Bizminer Small Business Profiles, profiles with benchmarking  financial statement data; and current issues of  journals focusing on small business such as Fast Company , The Academy of Entrepreneurship Journal,  and Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice.

Ask a reference librarian for assistance searching the Entrepreneurship database or any of the other library databases!
