101 (apps on library iPads, that is)

There were 101 dalmatians, and now there are 101 apps on the iPads available to borrow from the Douglas and Judith Krupp Library.

101.  That’s a lot.  And it’s not all just educational stuff, mind you, although yes, of course, we have those, too, whether you’re looking for Blackboard, or test prep materials, or Mango Languages, or if you just want to watch a TED talk.  There’s also this astronomy app called SkyView which we’re obsessed with right now… you point the camera at the sky, and it tells you what stars, planets, and other stellar objects (comets, satellites, the International Space Station, etc.) you’re looking at.

There’s news and finance stuff, too, like you’d expect: New York Times, Wall Street Journal, BBC, Bloomberg, and more.

Reference, of course: Dictionary.com, AccessMyLibrary, iTranslate, WorldCat Mobile, etc.

Travel?  Yup, 16 different travel guides.  Pick a city.

Arts & Entertainment: Netflix, Flixster, ABC Player, IMDB, Adobe Ideas, 123DSculpt, Guitar, Pandora, iBooks, Kindle, OverDrive, NOOK for iPad, Marvel Comics…

I could go on and on (some would say I already have).  Stop in and see for yourself.  We have 10 iPads available for loan now.  And if we don’t have one in, we’ll gladly put you on our iPad & Kindle waiting list.

And do you have any ideas for apps you think we should add?  Let us know.  We’re always taking suggestions.
